Embedded clause

An embedded clause is a part of a sentence that has its own subject and verb. It can be thought of like a mini-sentence inside a sentence. For example, in the sentence “The person who ate all the cookies went home,” “who ate all the cookies” is the embedded clause. It has its own subject (who) and verb (ate).
