Empennage

Hi there! So, the empennage is the back part of an airplane. It's like the tail. Just like how animals use their tails for balance and steering, airplanes use the empennage to keep the plane stable and to change directions. There are usually two parts to the empennage: the vertical stabilizer that sticks up like a fin, and the horizontal stabilizer that sticks out like a wing. These control surfaces help the airplane to stay level in the air, and allow the pilot to make the plane go up, down, left, or right. So, the empennage is an important part of the airplane that helps to keep it flying safely and in control.
