ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Energy resource

Okay kiddo, let me explain what energy resources are in a way that's easy for you to understand.

You know how we need energy to do things like turn on the lights, play with our toys, and even move around? Well, energy resources are things that we use to create that energy.

There are lots of different types of energy resources. Some of them we get from the earth, like coal, oil, and natural gas. These are called fossil fuels.

Other energy resources come from the sun and wind, like solar panels and wind turbines. We call these renewable energy because they won't run out, unlike fossil fuels which will eventually run out.

Now, when we want to create energy, we use machines called power plants. These power plants take the energy resource and turn it into energy we can use to power our homes and schools.

But the thing is, some energy resources are better for the environment than others. Fossil fuels, for example, can create pollution that harms the air and water. Renewable energy sources, on the other hand, don't create pollution at all.

So, that's energy resources in a nutshell. They're things we use to create energy so we can do all the fun things we love to do!
