Energy: world resources and consumption

Energy is what helps us do things like move, keep warm, and cook food. Think of energy like the fuel that powers things like cars and trucks. We get energy from different sources, but some of the most common ones are oil, coal, sun, wind, and water.

The entire world uses a lot of energy, and people use it in many different ways. For example, some people use energy to power their homes, while others use it to run factories and machines that make things.

Unfortunately, some sources of energy are running out, like oil and coal. This means that we need to find new ways to create energy that don't rely on these resources. Using renewable energy like solar power, wind power, and hydropower is becoming more popular because they don't run out, and they don't pollute the environment as much as fossil fuels do.

Ultimately, it's important to be mindful of how much energy we're using because we're already using a lot more than we can sustainably create. Using energy-saving practices like turning off the lights when we leave a room, using public transit instead of personal cars, and turning down the thermostat can help us use less energy and make our resources last longer.
