ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ernest Jones

Ernest Jones was a man who lived a long time ago and was really interested in understanding why people do things. He studied something called "psychoanalysis," which means looking at someone's thoughts and feelings to try and figure out what's going on in their head.

He believed that a lot of our behaviors come from something called the "unconscious," which is like a hidden part of our brain that we don't even realize is there. He thought that when we do things that don't make sense, it's because our unconscious is making us do it.

Ernest Jones was also friends with another famous guy named Sigmund Freud, who was also really interested in psychoanalysis. They wrote a bunch of stuff together and helped make psychoanalysis more popular.

Overall, Ernest Jones was a smart man who tried to understand why humans do what they do by looking at their thoughts and feelings.
