ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Eskimo

Eskimo is a word that describes a group of people who live in cold, snowy places like Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. They have a lot of different names for themselves, depending on where they live and what language they speak. Some people prefer to be called Inuit (pronounced "in-yoo-it"), while others like the term Yupik (pronounced "you-pick").

Eskimos have lots of cool and interesting ways of surviving in such cold climates. They build igloos out of snow and ice to keep warm, and wear fur coats and boots to stay cozy when they go outside. They also hunt and fish for their food, using things like harpoons and sled dogs to help them.

Even though they live in faraway places and have different ways of living, Eskimos are just like any other group of people. They have families, friends, and hobbies, and they love to tell stories and sing songs together. So if you ever meet an Eskimo, remember that they are just people like you and me, and they have a lot of interesting things to share!
