Euergetism

Euergetism is when rich and powerful people in ancient times (like kings, queens, or rich merchants) give money or gifts to their community to show that they are good and kind people. It's like sharing your toys with your friends to make them happy and feel good.

These wealthy people would use their money to build new buildings, make public spaces nicer, pay for parades or other special events, or help people in need, like the poor or sick. This would make everyone in the community happy and proud, and they would think highly of the person who gave them these things.
