ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

European Data Protection Board

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) is like a big group of grown-ups who make sure that people like you and your family are safe and your stuff doesn’t get stolen. They make rules that companies and other grown-ups have to follow when they use your personal information. Personal information is anything that tells people who you are or what you like. For example, your name, your address, your phone number or your favorite toy.

The EDPB works with all the countries in Europe to make sure the rules are the same for everyone. They tell the companies what they should and should not do when they collect your personal information. They also check if companies follow the rules and punish them if they do not.

So, the EDPB is like a grown-up superhero that makes sure your personal information is safe and not misused by anyone.
