Evolutionary Developmental Biology (often abbreviated as 'Evo-Devo') is a scientific field that studies how living things change and evolve over time. It combines the study of evolution (how things change) with the study of development (how things grow). Scientists in this field try to figure out why certain features (such as a tiger's stripes or a bird's beak) stay the same over millions of years, while other features (such as the way a giraffe neck develops) can change while other characteristics (like the length of its legs) remain the same. By looking at the changes and similarities between living things, we can learn how living things change over time.
