Evolutionary trap

Okay Kiddo, imagine you are a bird and you love to eat colorful berries. But one day, humans build a big city where you live and they put out fake colorful berries that look like your favorite ones.

You get excited and start eating the fake berries, but they make you sick! You keep thinking that they will make you feel better if you eat more, but they never do.

This is called an evolutionary trap. Your brain thinks that the fake berries are good for you because they look like the real ones, but they are not. So even though they are hurting you, you can't stop eating them because your brain is tricked by their looks.

Evolutionary traps happen when animals are fooled into thinking something is good for them, but it actually isn't. It's like a trick that nature plays on them!
