External sphincter muscle of female urethra

Okay, so when you need to go pee-pee, there is a little tube in your body called the urethra. This tube connects your bladder (where pee is stored) to the outside of your body. But before the pee can come out of your body, there is a special muscle called the external sphincter muscle that has to relax and open up. Think of it like a door that needs to be unlocked before someone can go through it.

In girls, this muscle is located right around the place where they pee from. In order for the pee to come out, this muscle has to take a break and let the pee flow out. When you're a little older, you'll learn how to control this muscle so you can hold your pee in when you need to, and let it out when it's time to pee. But for now, just remember that the external sphincter muscle is an important muscle that helps you go pee-pee!
