ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Levator ani

The levator ani is a group of muscles in your bottom area that help you hold in your poop and control your pee. It is like a big hammock that sits under your bladder and around your anus. Just like how you hold a jar of jelly tight so it doesn't fall, your levator ani muscles hold things in place so they don't fall out! When you do exercises like Kegels, you make these muscles stronger and better at doing their job. It's important to keep your levator ani muscles healthy so you can go to the bathroom when you are ready and keep your pee and poop in when you need to.
