Fan-funded music

Fan-funded music means people can essentially “buy” music from their favorite artist even if it isn’t officially released yet. It’s like pre-ordering something from a store before it goes on sale. The artist will let fans know that they are making new music, and then the fans can choose to pay for it ahead of time—that way the artist knows they will have enough money to cover the cost of producing the music. Then when the music is ready, everyone who pre-ordered it will get a copy. It is a way for fans to “invest” in their favorite artist and get something in exchange—usually exclusive access to the music before anyone else.
