Febronianism

Febronianism was the beliefs and teachings of a German Catholic priest and theologian named Emperor Joseph II. He believed that the Church should be free from the control and authority of the pope and bishops and that it should be more independent and self-governing. He wanted the Church to be open and more tolerant towards all beliefs, especially Protestantism. He thought that the Church should be focused on faith, love and charity instead of rules, laws and politics. In this way, he wanted the Church to bring people closer to God.
