Flail

A flail is a tool that people used a long time ago to help them harvest crops like wheat.

Picture this: imagine a long wooden stick with a heavy weight attached to one end with a chain or rope. The weight might be a big heavy ball made of metal.

When someone used a flail to harvest wheat, they would hold the stick and swing it around so that the heavy weight would hit the wheat. This would knock the seeds off the plant so that they could be gathered and turned into bread or other foods.

So basically, a flail helps people get seeds off of plants so they can use them for food. It's like a big hammer on a stick!
