ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Flange

A flange is like when you have two pieces of paper and you want to stick them together really well. You put a big piece of tape all the way around the edge so they don't come apart.

In the same way, a flange is a piece that sticks out from a pipe or a machine. It has little holes in it so you can screw it onto another piece. When you connect two pipes together, you put a flange on each end and then use bolts to hold them together.

Flanges are really important because they make sure that the pipes and machines are connected tightly and securely. They're used in lots of different things like cars, airplanes, and even in your house for things like your shower head.

So, think of a flange like a super strong piece of tape that connects things together really well.
