Flight and expulsion of Germans from Poland during and after World War II

Hey kiddo, during and after World War II, there was a terrible thing that happened where many Germans who were living in Poland were forced to leave their homes and go to Germany. This was called flight and expulsion.

Many people were very angry with Germans because they started the war and did bad things to people in Poland. So, when the war ended, lots of Polish people wanted to get revenge by making Germans leave their homes.

Some of the Germans left voluntarily, but many of them were forced to leave by the Polish government. They had to leave their homes and everything they owned behind and go to Germany.

It was a really sad time because many of these Germans had lived in Poland for generations and had nowhere else to go. Some of them were even born in Poland.

It wasn't just adults who were affected, kids like you were also forced to leave their homes and schools.

It's important to treat people with kindness and respect, even if they're from a different place or culture. And it's important to learn from history so that we don't repeat the same mistakes.
