Foot odor

Have you ever noticed a stinky smell coming from your feet after you've been running around all day? That smell is called "foot odor" and it happens when your feet sweat and the sweat gets trapped in your shoes or socks.

Sweat is a liquid that comes out of your pores (tiny holes on your skin) when your body gets too hot. It's like your body's way of cooling off. But when your feet sweat, the moisture can't escape because it's trapped inside your shoes or socks. As a result, bacteria on your skin start to grow and thrive in the warm, damp environment. These bacteria feed on the sweat and produce a smelly chemical called "isovaleric acid." That's what makes your feet stink!

To prevent foot odor, it's important to keep your feet clean and dry. You should wash your feet with soap and water every day, especially between your toes. After washing, dry your feet thoroughly with a towel, especially in between your toes. Wear clean socks every day, and choose socks made of breathable, natural fibers like cotton or wool. It's also important to wear shoes that allow your feet to breathe, like sandals or sneakers made of mesh material. Lastly, if you still have smelly feet, try using special foot sprays or inserts that can help absorb sweat and fight bacteria.
