Frankokratia

Frankokratia was a very long time ago when different groups of people - including Greeks and Crusaders - were fighting over who would be in charge of different areas of land, called "cities".

The Crusaders were people from other countries who came to the land and wanted to take charge of the cities for themselves. The Greeks were already there and wanted to keep control of the cities for themselves too.

But sometimes the Greeks would ask for help from the Crusaders to fight against other enemies. When the Crusaders helped out like this, they would sometimes take over the city afterwards as a reward. This was called "Frankokratia".

So, Frankokratia means when the Crusaders came to help the Greeks and ended up taking over some of their cities as a reward. It was a time of lots of fighting and disagreements over who should be in charge of what, and it happened a very long time ago.
