ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

French fries

Okay, imagine you have a potato.

First, you have to cut the potato into thin, long pieces. This is called slicing.

After that, you put those pieces into really hot oil. Hot oil is like a big, bubbly pot of boiling water, but instead of water, it's oil.

While the potato slices are in the hot oil, they start to cook and get crispy. When they're golden brown, you take them out of the oil and put them on a plate.

Finally, you add some salt on top to make them taste better. And there you go! That's how you make french fries, a delicious snack that you can eat all by yourself, or share with your friends and family. Just be careful not to eat too many or you might feel sick!
