ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Galvanic anode

A galvanic anode is like a superhero that helps prevent rust and corrosion on big metal things. Rust is bad because it makes metal weaker and can make it break apart. The galvanic anode is made of a different kind of metal than the big metal thing it's protecting. When you put the galvanic anode and the big metal thing together in water, something magical happens. The anode begins to corrode instead of the big metal thing! This doesn't hurt the anode because that's what it is designed to do. By corroding, the anode is sacrificing itself to protect the bigger metal thing. The bigger metal thing can stay strong and rust-free for a much longer time because of the galvanic anode. It's like having a superhero that fights against rust and saves the day!
