Gambler's ruin is like a game. Imagine two people, called Player A and Player B. In the game, each player has a different amount of money. Player A might have $10 and Player B might have $20.
Player A bets some of the money they have, and Player B does the same. Whoever has the most money at the end of the game, wins!
But, if Player A bets too much of their money away, they can end up with nothing left, and Player B would win! This is called gambler's ruin, because Player A was too careless with their money and it ruined their chances of winning the game.
