Gas meter

A gas meter is like a special clock and it's used to measure how much gas we use in our homes. Gas is what makes our stoves cook food, our hot water heaters make warm water, and our home heaters keep us cozy during winter.

The gas company sends gas through pipes to our homes, but they need to know how much gas each house uses so they can charge us the right amount. That's where the gas meter comes in!

The gas meter looks like a big metal box that's usually outside the house. When the gas flows through it, it makes the numbers on the meter go up. The gas company then comes to check the number on the meter and measures how much gas we've used.

So, just like how a clock helps us measure time, a gas meter helps the gas company measure how much gas we use in our houses.
