The gender digital divide is like a treehouse that some kids have but others don't. Some children, like boys, might climb up the tree and play in the treehouse with their friends, while others, like girls, might not even know about the treehouse or don't feel safe enough to climb up.
In the same way, the gender digital divide describes the unfair difference in how boys and girls use technology. Girls might have less access to things like computers or smartphones that let them search for information, do homework, and communicate with friends, while boys might have more access to these things.
This divide can happen for many different reasons, like families not being able to afford technology or cultural beliefs that say girls shouldn't be interested in technology. But just like how all the kids should be able to play in the treehouse, all boys and girls should have an equal chance to use technology to help them learn and grow.
