ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gender-specific and gender-neutral pronouns

Gender-specific pronouns, like "he", "him", and "his" refer to a male person, and pronouns like "she", "her", and "hers" refer to a female person. Gender-neutral pronouns, on the other hand, don't show if a person is a boy or a girl. Gender-neutral pronouns include they, them, and their, or even xe or per. If a person doesn't want to be referred to with a gender-specific pronoun, like "he" or "she", then we can use a gender-neutral pronoun like "they" or "xe".
