ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gene expression

Gene expression is a bit like an instruction manual that tells our bodies how to work. It is made up of genes, which are like tiny parts that are found inside each of our cells. These genes have information inside them that act as instructions for how our bodies should look and how they should work. When a gene is 'expressed', it means that it is taking its instructions from the genes and using them to do things like create proteins or other molecules. So, expression of genes is basically like the instructions telling our bodies what to do.
