Gibbet

A gibbet is like a metal cage that bad people used to be put in a long time ago. It was used to punish them for doing very bad things, like stealing or hurting other people. The cage wasn't very big and it was usually hung up high in the air so everyone could see the bad person being punished. The bad person would stay in the cage until they were very sick or they died. It was a very scary thing to see and it reminds us to not do bad things to other people.
