Gradient theorem

Gradient Theorem is a way to measure how steep something is. It helps you measure how quickly it changes (in math, we call this rate of change the 'slope'). To use the Gradient Theorem, you add up all the tiny changes that happen. The total sum of those changes tells you how big the change between where you started and where you ended up was.
