Okay kiddo, today we're going to learn about a group of people called the Griko people!
The Griko people are a special group of people who live in a place called Salento, which is in the south of Italy. They have a really interesting history that goes back hundreds of years!
You see, a long time ago, Greece and Italy were very close neighbors and lots of people from Greece actually moved to Italy to live there (just like how people move to different countries today!). Over time, the people who moved to Italy started to mix with the people who already lived there and they formed their own special group called the Griko people.
The Griko people are really proud of their heritage and culture, and they have their own language and traditions that they keep alive even today! They speak a special kind of Greek language that is mixed with Italian words, and they have special foods and dances that are unique to their culture.
Even though the Griko people are a special group, they are also part of Italy and they are friends with all the other people who live there. They love to share their traditions with others and to learn about different cultures too!
