Mereology is the study of the parts and wholes of something. Gunk is a term used to describe when things are broken down into very small pieces. For example, if you have an apple and you cut it into small pieces, you have created “gunk”. When we study mereology, we look at how these small pieces fit together to make a big picture. We also look at how the small pieces interact with each other and how they can be used to explain what is going on in the bigger picture.
