Handbrake turn

A handbrake turn is when you make a car turn quickly by pulling up on the handbrake (the lever next to the driver's seat that helps you stop the car).

Imagine you are playing with a toy car on a table. When you want the car to turn, you use your hands to push it in the direction you want it to go. When you want the car to turn really quickly, you might give it a spin by pushing it with one hand and then quickly pushing it with the other hand.

When you're driving a real car, you can't spin it around like a toy car, but you can make it turn really quickly by using the handbrake. Normally, when you turn a car, you use the steering wheel to make it go in the direction you want. But when you do a handbrake turn, you not only turn the steering wheel, but you also pull up on the handbrake. This makes the back wheels of the car lock up, causing the car to turn quickly in the direction you want.

It's important to remember that handbrake turns can be dangerous and should only be done by experienced drivers in a safe environment, like a closed-off racetrack. It's not something you should try on the street or in a parking lot.
