ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Drifting (motorsport)

Drifting is a type of motorsport where drivers control their car in a really cool way. Instead of just driving straight like normal, they make their car slide so that it goes sideways around corners. It's like when you slide a toy car around your bedroom floor, but way more intense!

The drivers use their cars to make lots of smoke as they slide around, and it looks really exciting to watch. They're kind of like really cool stunt drivers. They compete against each other to see who can slide around the track the best.

To make the car drift, the driver has to do a few things. They have to go really fast into a corner, and then suddenly turn the steering wheel as hard as they can. This makes the back wheels of the car lose grip and start to slide out. The driver uses the throttle to keep the car going sideways, and the brake to slow it down or bring it to a stop.

Drifting is really hard to do, and it takes a lot of practice to get really good at it. But when you see a car drifting, it's really impressive and exciting!
