ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hayflick limit

The Hayflick limit is a number that tells us how many times a cell in our body can divide before it can’t divide anymore. This number is usually around 50-100 times but it can be different for different people or even different parts of the same person’s body. When a cell can’t divide anymore it is called being “senescent”. This can prevent certain health problems like cancer but can also mean cells get weaker and older faster.
