Hindu temple architecture is the way that Hindu temples are built. Hindu temples are buildings that are sacred to Hindus, who are followers of the Hindu religion. Hindu temples typically have a central area for worship – like a room or hall, or even a courtyard – and one or more towers (called “shikharas”). They often have a large entrance gate or doorway, and decorated walls and sculptures. Hindu temples also have a holy altar or shrine, where people can make offerings to their gods, or pray. The design of a Hindu temple often reflects the beliefs of Hindus, and sometimes the specific beliefs of a particular group of Hindus.
