History of Protestantism

Protestantism is a religion that started in the early 1500s. People were unhappy with the way the Roman Catholic Church was running things, so they decided to protest, or speak out against it. They believed the Church had too much power and that people should be able to worship God in the way they wanted to. So, instead of following the rules of the Catholic Church, Protestantism was born. Protestants started their own churches and followed different rules than the Roman Catholic Church, like having priests and pastors who married and read from the Bible in their native language, rather than Latin. This made it easier for people to understand what was going on and to have more freedom to practice their faith. Over time, Protestantism spread throughout Europe and other parts of the world, and there are many different kinds of Protestant churches today.
