History of chemistry

Chemistry is a science that we use to learn about how matter is made and how it works. It has been around for hundreds of thousands of years, though people did not think of it as a science until the 1600s. Before then, people used chemistry to make things like soap, food, medicines and building materials.

Today, chemistry is used to solve big problems and to make new products. It helps us to figure out how to make medicines to make people feel better, new fuels to power our cars, and even new materials that can be used to build things like water filters and special paints.

Chemists experiment and ask lots of questions to try to understand the world. They use their observations to come up with new ideas and find solutions to problems.
