History of entheogenic drugs

Okay, kiddo. So, there are some plants that people have been using for a very long time, like thousands of years. They're special because they can make people feel really different and see things that aren't there. When people use these plants for a special or religious purpose, we call them entheogenic drugs or substances.

A long time ago, people in different parts of the world started experimenting with these plants to see what would happen. They found out that when they ate, drank, smoked, or snorted these plants, they could feel really different. Some people talked to spirits or felt more connected to their gods or their communities.

One example that you might have heard of is peyote, which is a cactus that people in North America have been using for thousands of years. They use it for religious ceremonies and to help them feel closer to each other and to the world around them.

Other examples include ayahuasca, which comes from South America, and psilocybin mushrooms, which grow in many parts of the world.

Now, not everyone thinks that it's a good thing to use these plants. Some people think they're dangerous or that they make people do things they wouldn't normally do. Because people have different opinions, there are different laws around the world about whether it's okay to use and possess these plants.

Overall, these plants have a really long history of use by people who wanted to feel more connected to their communities, their gods, or their own inner selves. Some people still use them today, but others think that it's better to find those connections without using special plants.
