History of the United States
The United States is a country in North America. It began as thirteen British colonies, but in 1776 the colonies declared their independence from Great Britain and started their own country. After that, the United States of America was born! The Founders of the United States wrote a document called the Constitution, which explains the rights of the people and how the government should work. Throughout its history, the United States has gone through lots of changes. It has gone to war, made treaties with other nations, and fought for freedom. Many of the people who came to the United States were looking for a better life. They wanted freedom, opportunity, and a chance to make their dreams come true. The United States has come a long way since its beginnings, and it is still changing every day.
