Okay kiddo, so a long time ago in history, women didn't have the same rights as men. They weren't allowed to vote or do certain jobs or activities. One of those jobs was being in the military.
But as time went by, women started to want to be part of the military too. So, during the World War I and II, many women served as nurses and volunteers to help soldiers in the military hospitals.
However, it wasn't until the 1970s when the law changed, and women were allowed to officially join the military as soldiers just like men. Before that, they could only work as nurses or in other supporting roles.
Even though women were now allowed to be soldiers, not everyone supported this. Some people thought that women weren't strong enough or brave enough to do the same things as men in the military.
But over time, women proved that they were just as capable and deserve the same respect as men in the military. Lots of women have served in wars and conflicts, making important contributions to their country's military.
Nowadays, women are serving in all parts of the military, from pilots to combat roles, and they are helping to protect and defend our country just like men.
