ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Homo habilis

Homo habilis was a type of human that lived a long time ago when the world was a lot different than it is now. They were like our ancestors because they were one of the first humans to use tools like knives and stones. Homo habilis means "handy man" because they were really good at making and using tools. They were also really good at walking on two feet, which is called being bipedal. This helped them move around and find food easier. They were also smaller than us and had bigger brains compared to other animals back then, which helped them survive in their environment. People can study Homo habilis by looking at fossils, which are the remains of their bones that were preserved over time. Even though we can't see Homo habilis in person now, we can learn a lot from studying them and understanding how they lived.
