Homogamy (sociology)

Homogamy means that people tend to choose friends, romantic partners, or spouses who are similar to them in terms of things like age, education, income, race, or cultural background. It's kind of like when you choose to hang out with kids who are the same age as you, or play with toys that you both like. Grown-ups do this too when they make friends who have the same job as them or who like the same things they do. This happens because people feel more comfortable around others who are like them, and who they have things in common with. So, homogamy is just a fancy word for saying that people tend to choose people who are like them as friends or romantic partners.
