Homozygosity

Homozygosity is like having two of the same toys. Just like how you might have two same toys like two teddy bears or two toy cars. In the same way, homozygosity means having two copies of the same gene.

Every living thing has genes, which are like little instructions that tell the body how to grow and work properly.

Imagine if your parents both gave you the same type of gene for eye color, then you would have two of the same gene copies called "homozygous". This might mean that you have blue eyes or brown eyes.

Homozygosity can affect how a living thing looks and behaves because it's related to the genes that we inherit from our parents. When certain traits are homozygous, it means that they are more likely to be passed down to the next generation.
