ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hooke's Law

Hooke's law is like a rulebook for how things can stretch or squash. Imagine you have a rubber band. If you pull it, it gives a little bit and stretches out. The more you pull it, the longer it gets. If you let go of it, it goes back to its original size. That's Hooke's law.

Hooke's law says that when you stretch or squash something, like a rubber band or a spring, the amount it changes in size is directly related to how much you stretch or squash it. If you push down on a spring, it compresses and gets shorter. The more you push, the shorter it gets. If you let go, it goes back to its normal size.

So, Hooke's law is all about how much something changes when you stretch or squash it. It helps us understand how materials behave under different forces. It's like a magic book that helps us predict how things will move and change when we apply different amounts of force.
