Simple harmonic motion

Hey there, kiddo!

Do you know how when you swing on a swing, you keep going back and forth? That back and forth motion is called oscillation or simple harmonic motion.

Simple harmonic motion is when an object moves back and forth repeatedly in a straight line (like the swing). This kind of motion happens when there is a force pulling the object back to its original position. Think of it like a rubber band - when you stretch it and let it go, it bounces back and forth until it eventually stops.

The speed at which the object moves back and forth is called frequency. The distance the object moves from its original position is called amplitude.

Simple harmonic motion can be found in lots of things in our daily life like pendulums, springs, and even sound waves. It's a really cool thing to observe and learn about!
