ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Horizon

Horizon is the line where the sky seems to touch the ground or the sea. It's a bit like the edge of where you can see when you're standing somewhere and looking out into the distance. Think about when you’re outside and looking at the sky. You can see the sky above you but it seems to touch the ground really far away from you. That line where it looks like the sky and earth meet is called the horizon. It's kind of like looking at a big circle where you are standing in the middle, and the horizon is the boundary of that circle.

For example, if you are standing on a beach and looking out to the ocean, you'll see the horizon as the place where the ocean and the sky meet. The same thing happens if you're looking at a mountain range, a city skyline, or really anything in the distance.

The horizon line also changes based on where you are and how high you are off the ground. If you're up in an airplane, the horizon seems farther away than if you're standing on the ground. And if you're standing on a hill, you can see the horizon farther away than if you were in a valley or surrounded by tall buildings.

Overall, the horizon is just the place where the sky and earth look like they meet, and it changes depending on where you are and how you're looking at it.
