Horizontal and vertical

When we talk about "horizontal" and "vertical," we are usually talking about the direction or orientation of things like lines, surfaces, or objects.

"Horizontal" means something that is lying flat or parallel to the ground, like a table or a book that is resting on a surface. Imagine laying down on your tummy – that's a horizontal position!

"Vertical," on the other hand, means something that is standing upright or perpendicular to the ground, like a tree or a flagpole. Think of standing up tall – that's a vertical position.

So, when people use these terms, they are talking about whether something is laying flat or standing up tall. It's an easy way to describe how things are positioned, without having to use a lot of complicated words.
