ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Vertical position

When you're standing up, you have a vertical position. It means you're standing nice and tall, not leaning over or lying down. Think of a pencil standing up straight on a table - that's a good example of vertical position. When you're sitting down, you don't have a vertical position because you're not standing up. But if you stand up from your chair, you'd have a vertical position again. Basically, it's all about how straight and upright you are.
