ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hosea 6

Okay, so Hosea is a book in the Bible that talks about God's love for his people, but also how they keep doing bad things and not following him. In chapter 6, it starts with people saying they want to go back to God and follow him again. They think if they say sorry and do some religious rituals, everything will be okay.

But God knows that they aren't really changing their hearts, they're just going through the motions. He tells them that what he really wants is for them to show real love and kindness to each other, not just do religious stuff. He wants them to know him and follow him, not just go through the motions.

God then talks about how he's tried to teach them over and over, but they keep turning away from him. He wants them to listen and actually follow him, instead of just pretending to.

Overall, Hosea 6 is talking about how it's not enough to just go through religious rituals and say sorry for our mistakes. God wants us to really know him and show love and kindness to others, and that's what it means to truly follow him.
