Hui people are a Chinese Muslim ethnic group. They are the descendants of Arab and Persian traders who traveled to China many hundreds of years ago for trade. The Hui people practiced the religion of Islam, which is a belief that there is only one God and that Prophet Muhammad is God's messenger. Over time, the Hui people blended their Islamic beliefs and practices with Chinese culture, making it their own. They speak Chinese, wear traditional Chinese clothing, and work in many different professions, from trade to agriculture. Today, there are nearly 10 million Hui people in China, and they are spread out throughout the country.
