ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hypothalamus

The hypothalamus is a part of your brain that acts like the captain of a very important ship. It controls a lot of things that your body needs to work properly and do everyday things like eating, sleeping, and staying healthy.

Think of the hypothalamus as the boss of your body. It tells other parts of your brain and body what to do like when to feel hungry, when to feel sleepy, and when to get excited or scared.

The hypothalamus also helps control important things like your body temperature, blood pressure and heart rate. It even helps you to go to the bathroom!

So, if your hypothalamus is doing its job well, your body will also do its job well - keeping you healthy and happy.
